18MAR22 - Air Canada applauded Canada’s announcement to remove pre-departure testing requirements as of April 1, 2022 for fully vaccinated travellers.

17MAR22 - Canada is reportedly set to announce it will eliminate pre-arrival Covid testing for vaccinated arrivals. It will be lifted by the end of March, according to government sources. Current rules require travellers to present proof of a negative antigen test taken within 24 hours of arrival or a PCR test taken within 72 hours.

16MAR22 - Starting on April 12, New Zealand will allow vaccinated travelers from Australia to enter without quarantine, in time for that country’s school holidays. A few weeks later, on May 1, vaccinated tourists from countries that do not need a visa, including Canada and the United States, will then be allowed to enter.

16MAR22 - British Airways and Virgin Atlantic are dropping compulsory mask-wearing and London Heathrow Airport is also ditching its mask mandate from today. Masks are still required on flights to Wales and Scotland as well as other destinations such as the US. Virgin said flights to Delhi, Islamabad, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, Lahore, Lagos, Mumbai, Shanghai and Tel Aviv require masking up.

15MAR22 - South Korea becomes the latest Asian nation to welcome back international travellers quarantine-free. It will allow travellers entry from 1 April. It applies to arrivals whose final vaccine dose is less than six months old or who have had a booster shot. They are required to upload their vaccine status to Korea’s Q-CODE system. Travellers must also present proof of a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours before departure.

15MAR22 - Australia will allow the return of international cruise ships to its ports starting April 17, according to a joint media statement from the Ministers for Health; Home Affairs; and Trade.

15MAR22 - The United Kingdom will officially wind down the rest of its COVID-19-era travel rules starting a 4 a.m. on March 18. Starting then, all international travelers, whether they are vaccinated or not, will be able to enter the U.K. without providing proof of a negative COVID-19 test or completing a passenger locator form.

15MAR22 - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is again lowering the advisory for cruise ship travel. On Monday, the CDC dropped its cruise ship warning from Level 3: High to Level 2: Moderate, the second major change this year after last month’s lowering from Level 4: Very High to Level 3.

14MAR22 - U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI), which announced that it would no longer require vaccinated U.S. travelers to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival. The territory, which includes St. Croix, St. John, and St. Thomas, is one of the more popular Caribbean destinations for North American travelers. Effective immediately, unvaccinated domestic passengers will still have to show proof of a negative test, taken within five days of travel, and international travelers will still be required to abide by the U.S. entry rules, which includes a test taken within 24 hours of arrival.

08MAR22 - International cruise ship calls are returning to Canada after more than two years. Canada’s Transport Minister Omar Alghabra announced the ban is ending and Caribbean Princess will be the first call in Victoria, BC on April 6. Cruise lines must follow strict guidelines to operate in Canadian waters. It includes Covid-19 testing and reporting,, and all eligible passengers and crew must be fully jabbed.

08MAR22 - The Maldives is the latest holiday destination to ease entry requirements, by removing Covid-19 tests for fully vaccinated travellers.

08MAR22 - Saudi Arabia has lifted all Covid-related curbs for arriving tourists. Effective immediately, visitors to Saudi will no longer need to present proof of vaccination or a PCR test to enter the country.

07MAR22 - Covid regulations for arriving passengers to Ireland have now been removed. It became effective on Sunday and allows travellers in without having to present proof of vaccination, recovery or a negative PCR test. They no longer have to fill out a passenger locator form It marks the end of ‘the last remaining Covid regulations.

07MAR22 - Oman has started of easing its Covid-19 travel rules for international travellers. The Supreme Committee, in charge of dealing with the pandemic, and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced that travellers over the age of 18 traveling to Oman are required to present a vaccination certificate (with a QR code) indicating that they have received at least two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine.

07MAR22 - Malaysia’s borders will be opening again soon. Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob confirmed a decision has been made to reopen.

04MAR22 - Italy, which has long been one of the top international destinations for North American travelers, will no longer require those who are fully vaccinated to show a negative COVID-19 test in order to enter the country. Those who are not fully vaccinated can still show a negative rapid test taken within 48 hours of arrival in order to enter freely without quarantine.

03MAR22 - The Government of Saint Lucia is updating its international arrival protocols, creating a simplified experience for travellers. Starting on Saturday, March 5, 2022 fully vaccinated travellers and in-transit passengers aged 5 and over must have a negative rapid Covid-19 antigen test or a Rapid Covid-19 PCR test taken one day prior to entering Saint Lucia. Travellers may also provide a negative RT-PCR Covid-19 test taken up to five days prior to arrival. All unvaccinated travellers must present a negative RT-PCR Covid-19 test, taken up to five days prior to entering Saint Lucia.

03MAR22 - Hawaii Gov. David Ige confirmed this week that the state’s Safe Travels program will come to an end after March 25, allowing domestic visitors to travel to Hawaii without having to show proof of vaccination or a negative test result, and without having to quarantine upon arrival.

28FEB22 - The Cayman Islands is gearing up to welcome cruise ship calls again. It has been nearly two years since the last cruise ship called. Ships will be able to dock from March 21, subject to government approval. In a phased restart, ships will be limited to 40% of previous passenger volumes. All passengers and crew are required to be fully vaccinated.

28FEB22 - The Caribbean island of St. Maarten recently outlined a phased transition to move from pandemic protocols to an endemic strategy. This will be followed by a change in the entry requirements beginning March 1, with all travelers who are fully vaccinated, as well as those who have recovered no longer required to show proof of a negative test upon arrival. Unvaccinated individuals, however, must still provide a negative PCR test taken 48 hours prior to arrival or an antigen test taken 24 hours prior to arrival.

27FEB22 - Government of Barbados announced new updates to ease travellers’ entry process into the country. Travellers to Barbados can now use rapid antigen tests for entry, administered by a healthcare provider no more than one day prior to arrival in Barbados.

27FEB22 - Italy is easing entry restrictions for arrivals from all non-European countries. Starting from March 1, only a vaccination certificate, recovery certificate or negative test result is required for entry, talian Health Minister Roberto Speranza said.

24FEB22 - Jamaica is continuing its path towards normal travel. Starting March 1, Jamaica is dropping its pre-travel authorization requirement, removing another barrier to the island’s full return to travel. Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement this week explaining that while the pandemic is not over, it was time to start to remove some COVID-19-era protocols.

22FEB22 - Israel Will Welcome All Tourists, Regardless of Vaccination Status, Starting March 1.

17FEB22 - Japan is expected to relax strict border controls in March, countering strong criticism some Japanese nationals, students, and foreign workers are effectively barred from the country. Japan has strict limits on arrivals into the country.

17FEB22 - Canada is moving to wind down some of its inbound testing requirements. Starting Feb. 28, all inbound travelers to Canada will be allowed to travel into the country with a negative rapid antigen test result taken within 24 hours of departure. Previously, Canada had required a PCR test in order to enter.

16FEB22 - The Vietnam government has agreed to fully reopen borders from March 15 for international travellers. Foreign visitors won’t need to book tour packages as is the case now for limited travel to certain tourist areas. All arrivals aged 12 and above are required to be fully vaccinated or be Covid recovered, and also show a negative test result within 24 hours after arrival. Hotel self-isolating  is required until receipt of the negative test result,

07FEB22 - Australia will fully reopen its borders to all vaccinated visa holders from Feb 21, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said on Monday (Feb 7), after nearly two years since he shut it to non-citizens to mitigate the threat of the new coronavirus.

25JAN22 - UK Dropping COVID Testing for Arriving International. Travelers The country is rolling back many of its coronavirus-related restrictions.

25JAN22 - Cayman Island Ministry of Tourism officials also narrowed traveler quarantine requirements from 10 to seven days and revised the island’s testing protocols. Travelers in the territory are now required to submit a lateral flow test (LFT) on days two, five and seven of their stay. Day 10 testing is no longer required under the revised protocols. Children ages five to 11 are required to undergo identical testing requirements as adults, while children under age five are not subject to pre-arrival or on-site testing. Inbound travelers aged five and above must provide proof of a negative pre-departure test, either a certified rapid test/LFT or PCR test, taken no earlier than the day prior to departure.

24jan22 - England to Remove Arrival Testing for Vaccinated Travelers. Fully vaccinated travelers to England will soon no longer be required to take a COVID-19 test upon arrival. No start date has been set yet.

21JAN22 - Spain to Require Travelers Receive Booster Shots. Spain will require travelers whose last vaccine dose was at least 270 day ago to receive a booster shot 14 or more days prior to arrival.

21JAN22 - Belize Tourism Board Announces New Safe Travel Requirements. All visitors to Belize will need to apply for a mandatory insurance effective February 15, 2022.

21JAN22 - Crystal Cruises Suspends Operations Through April. Crystal suspended operations for its Ocean/Expedition ships through April 29, with River cruises suspended through the end of May.

21JAN22 - Quarantine-Free Travel to Queensland Begins January 22.The new regulations are limited to "Working Holiday Makers," students, fully vaccinated Australians and permanent residents and their families.

21JAN22 - The Irish Government has announced today (21 January) that almost all Covid-19 public health restrictions will come to an end. From tomorrow, restaurants and bars can resume normal trading hours; and restrictions on indoor and outdoor events, including sporting fixtures, will be lifted.

09SEP21 - Ireland to Drop Almost All COVID-19 Restrictions Next Month. Ireland’s PM says the country’s high vaccination rate (90% in adults) will allow it to drop almost all COVID restrictions.

09SEP21 - Netherlands Will Now Require Quarantine Regardless of Vaccination Status. The quarantine is currently set at 10-days, with a possibility of a shortened quarantine if the travelers provide a negative COVID-19 test after five days.

04SEP21 - E.U. Confirms Removal of United States from Safe Travel List. The recommendation means that the E.U. is advising all of the countries in its 27-nation bloc to reinstate restrictions against Americans

04SEP21 - Italy Tightens Entry Requirements for American and Canadian Travelers. The Italian government announced new COVID-19 testing and self-isolation requirements for American and Canadian travelers.

04AUG21 -  Bahamas Implements New Travel Requirements Effective August 6. All fully vaccinated travelers, as well as children ages two through 11, will be required to obtain a negative COVID-19 test (either a rapid antigen test or PCR test) taken no more than five days prior to the date of arrival to the Bahamas (or date of travel within the country). Unvaccinated travelers ages 12 and older must still obtain a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than five days prior to the date of arrival (or date of inter-island travel). All children under the age of two are exempt from any testing requirements.

03AUG21 - Royal Caribbean says USVI prohibiting ships with unvaccinated passengers. Because of the new policy, Royal Caribbean is now requiring that all eligible passengers must be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 if the cruise includes a USVI port call.

03AUG21 - Princess Cruises Completes First Voyage Following Extended Pause. With the conclusion of Majestic Princess' voyage to Alaska, Princess Cruises completed its first U.S. sailing since the pause of operations due to COVID.

02AUG21 - Royal Caribbean will require negative Covid tests from most guests. The policy change comes the same week that six passengers on the Adventure of the Seas tested positive for Covid-19; four of the guests were vaccinated.

01JUL21 - Ireland to Remove Quarantine Requirement for Americans July 19. From July 19, U.S. visitors who have been vaccinated, have a negative PCR test or have recovered from COVID will be able to visit Ireland without quarantining.

25JUN21 - The German government is lifting all travel restrictions for persons residing in the United States, effective Sunday, June 20, 2021,” the German Mission of the United States announced. “So starting Sunday, travel to Germany for all purposes will be permitted again. However, a proof of vaccination, proof of recovery from COVID-19, or negative test result is still required for entry via air travel.”

25JUN21 - Beginning July 5, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. EDT, fully vaccinated travelers who are permitted to enter Canada will not be subject to the federal requirement to quarantine or take a COVID-19 test on day 8 after entry. In addition, fully vaccinated travelers arriving by air will not be required to stay at a government-authorized hotel.

25JUN21 - Austria Reopening to Americans From June 24. Austria is opening to U.S. travelers on June 24, requiring proof of vaccination, recent recovery from COVID or a negative COVID test result.

25JUN21 - Czech Republic Labels U.S. as “Low-Risk,” Opens to U.S. Travelers. The United States joins the list of low-risk countries, allowing U.S. tourists to enter to the Czech Republic.

25JUN21 - Hawaii will allow vaccinated mainland travelers to skip pre-travel Covid testing. It marks the biggest step yet in fully reopening the state. It takes effect on 8 July, which is the same date Hawaii is relaxing other curbs. This includes restaurants to move to 75% capacity and allowing social gatherings of 25 people indoors and 75 outdoors. The easing of protocols comes as Hawaii inches toward its target of 60% of the population being fully vaccinated.

24JUN21 - Austria Welcoming Back U.S. Travelers From June 24. The Austrian Tourist Office announced the country is reopening to Americans who are vaccinated, negative for COVID or recently recovered.

24JUN21 - Americans Can Now Visit the Czech Republic. As of June 21, U.S. citizens can travel to the Czech Republic with a negative test result, proof of vaccination or recent recovery over COVID-19.

22JUN21 - Italian health minister Roberto Speranza announced that Italy will allow the entry of travelers from the United States under the requirements of the E.U.'s Green Certificate. That means U.S. travelers who can provide proof of vaccination, a certificate of recovery from COVID-19, or a negative PCR- or rapid-antigen test taken within 48 hours of arrival can travel to Italy without observing an isolation period on arrival. The new entry requirements are effective as of June 21.

22JUM21 - Germany Eases Travel Restrictions for American Tourists. U.S. travelers 6 and older must show proof they've been fully vaccinated or show proof they contracted COVID-19 and recovered between 28 days and six months before their trip.
